Six months have already passed since the explosion in a water park in Taipei on June 27, 2015. Of the 499 people injured during the incident, 25 people remain hospitalized (as of December 31, 2015). To address the physical and psychosocial rehabilitation needs of the survivors, Sunshine Foundation launched a five-year service plan and has significantly expanded its service capacity over the last six months by opening new rehabilitation facilities and training burn rehabilitation professionals. The initial goal was to provide psychosocial rehabilitation services to 300 survivors, as well as intensive physical rehabilitation services to 220 survivors. By December 2015, we have exceeded these goals, with 403 people benefiting from our services, among which 293 people undergoing intensive physical rehabilitation. click here for a complete overview of our efforts and achievements in helping survivors of the water park explosion over the last six months.
